Our Story

Hello, I'm Gina, founder of GB Events.

I grew up in my father's graphic arts and signage workshop in Melbourne's north, watching jobs go from sketch to printed product. That's where I learned the difference between something that looks finished and something that's actually finished. I studied Multimedia & Digital Arts at Monash University and spent the next decade as a graphic designer, but the moment I designed my first wedding invitation suite in 2015, I knew the events industry was where the craft and the people overlapped.

In 2017 I bought my first photo booth, a single open-air booth, from an online listing. I expected it to be a side project. Within twelve months it was the business. Couples were booking us because of the photos, but they kept asking us for everything else: signage for the welcome table, custom name cards, a way to capture audio messages from older guests who weren't going to step into a booth. We added each service one at a time, only when we could deliver it as well as the photo booth.

In 2025 my sister Alissa joined GB Events full-time. She brought the operations brain, the client-experience instincts and the calm head under pressure that the business had been missing while I was running everything from creative direction to invoicing. Having a sibling in the business isn't always easy, but it does mean that two people who care equally about the family name are on every event we say yes to. Today, GB Events is a team of specialists across photo, signage, design and content. We've delivered over 1,000 events across Melbourne and we've kept the same 5.0-star Google rating since our first review. Not because we're the cheapest, and not because we're the loudest, but because we still treat every event like it's our own.
